Couches, storage units, moves

Moving and Junk Removal Services

Moving across the DMV, an old couch out the door, or a storage unit finally emptied.

Chapter 01

Silver Spring to Alexandria, an old couch, a storage unit

Three questions sum up this service: “Moving from Silver Spring to Alexandria?” “Need to get rid of that old couch?” And the storage unit you have been meaning to clean out for a while. If any of them is yours, this is the page.

Moving and junk removal are one job seen from two ends. One carries what you are keeping to the new place; the other carries away what you are not. Hall Son's does both across Northern Virginia and the DMV, and junk removal also sits on the Honey-Do list, so a single call can cover a few odd jobs.

Every job starts with a FREE Estimate. Call or text 571-336-2395 and tell us what is going, where it is and what the stairs look like.

How a haul-out goes from walk-through to sweep-out

It starts with a walk-through, in person or from the photos you text us. We look at what is leaving, how it gets out of the building and where it is going, and that is what the FREE Estimate is built on, not a guess over the phone.

Load-out comes next. Heavy and awkward pieces go first while the path is clear, boxes and loose items fill the gaps, and the things that will not tolerate a scrape, such as a couch arm or a table edge, are wrapped before they are carried. For a move, that sequence runs in reverse at the other end, with the furniture set in the rooms it belongs in.

Then the sweep-out. Once the last load is gone we sweep the space it came from, so a storage unit or a garage is handed back empty and swept rather than half-emptied.

Chapter 03

What to set aside before the day

Sort into three piles before we arrive: what is going to the new place, what is leaving for good, and what you are still deciding on. The third pile is the one that slows a day down, so give it a deadline. Anything that has to stay, such as a table in the middle of the room, gets a note or a piece of tape.

Tell us about access: a loading dock or elevator that needs booking, a parking spot that is a long walk from the door, a narrow stairwell. Those details change how the load-out is planned, and they are quicker to sort out on the phone than on the day.

If the place needs cleaning when it is empty, ask about a move-out clean in the same call. The photo above shows the other end of a move: a bunk bed, floating shelves and a bookcase put back together once the boxes were gone.
